Owner's future vision for Orinetz
Tuesday, March 31st 2009

At the moment I am working to make Orinetz to become a portal for various space opera settings. In order to reach that goal, I had started the effort by building a planetary system simulator known as Orinetz Orbit Simulator in English.

As most of us already know, understanding what things looks like in space is not something easy. We are going to need various simulations in order to get the idea right. For that matter various software had been developed to aid. Orinetz Orbit Simulator in particular is intended as online browser based simulation.

The advantage for science fiction web owners is your readers do not have to use any other application to view your planetary system in three dimension. You just have to link back and forth between your website and Orinetz to do that. The detail of which could be found in the link below :

Note for science fiction web owners

Since users of this browser based application is not limited to science fiction web owners. I have to accommodate other users such as real astronomers and extrasolar planet hunters who might want to share their knowledge about how extrasolar planetary system looks like.

For real extrasolar planetary system, I would require the poster to include links to paper and articles from legitimate sources. The detail of which could be found in the link below :

Labeling real planetary system

I would like to ask for critics and suggestion for these two documentations. I value honesty, and I simply want things to be told as what they are.

At the moment I am busy writing documentations for whatever I had made in Orinetz and translating them to Bahasa Indonesia (Orinetz was designed to be multilingual). The funny thing is that I feel more comfortable speaking about anything space in English than in Bahasa Indonesia. But I had joined an Indonesian Astronomy Forum recently and hope to re-learn the Indonesian vocabs from them. We are discussing about black hole at that forum at the moment.

In the near future, I had planned to add more physics simulations related to gravity and relativistic travel.

In the far future, perhaps as far as December 2010 to March 2011 I would like to start touching the biological and ecological aspect of space opera as well. As far as it might seems, planning all aspects of an ecology is a great endeavor that may take years to complete. We have to take care of the resources base and chemical cycle, produce samples of faunaforms, floraforms and anything in between plus describing the interactions between them.

In the end I wish to make an ecological simulation that visitors could visit as safari tourists (google up "zoo tycoon" for an example). My brother had told me that I may need to learn Flash ActionScript 3 for this, while I wish to accomplish the task with only JavaScript.

That being said, Orinetz is intended to be a for-profit website and this is going to be quite a big endeavor. I would like to get more input on how to reward the contributors and how to get enough funding for this project (at the moment it is only ads), especially since anyone who want to contribute to this project is going to pay not so small price for it. It would be interesting if we could spend our time doing what we like, get paid for it and one day have enough money to buy a ticket for Space Hilton.

Anyone who want to contribute may sign up to Orinetz to leave their comments or write their own blog entry as a reply to this article ( in Orinetz you can reply a blog entry with a blog entry. The link to your reply will be displayed as related entries ). If you have any question, Orinetz have a Question and Answer forum as well.
